A deck can be a great place to kick back and relax. Unfortunately, there are many factors that can get in the way of your ability to use and enjoy your deck – extreme hot or cold temperatures, stormy weather, and annoying insects, just to name a few.   Realistically, the average homeowner only utilizes the deck about 20% of the year. This is where sunrooms come in handy.

A well-designed sunroom provides you with a living space that can be utilized regardless of the weather, increasing your enjoyment of the beautiful outdoors while allowing you to truly maximize your home’s living space.  The versatility of a sunroom allows for great potential and gives you a chance to design a relaxing, comfortable area that meets your specific needs. Sunrooms are not limited to just one style, meaning there are options for just about anyone!

At Omaha Door & Window, we offer three dynamic styles of sunrooms.  Continue reading to learn more about each, and to see which style could work best for you.  Keep in mind that all of our styles can be custom-designed to meet your home’s specifications and to match the size and shape of your vision.

  1. A four-season sunroom. This style, as the name implies, can be enjoyed in any kind of weather and is a great year-round option. Four Season Sunrooms utilize insulated walls, roofing, and floors, as well as top-quality windows that are made with Low-E glass and Argon gas for the highest levels of energy efficiency. A four-season sunroom also comes equipped with a heating/air conditioning unit to provide temperature control within your sunroom for maximum comfort year-round.
  2. A three season sunroom. A slightly pared-down version of the four season sunroom, the three season sunroom is still constructed with insulated walls, roofing, and flooring; however, the windows have clear glass and the enclosure itself does not typically come with a heating and cooling unit. While three season sunrooms are not ideal in times of extreme heat and cold, they can be used most of the year.
  3. Screen room. If you love feeling the breeze but hate the bugs, this style is made for you! Screen rooms are comprised of an insulated roof with walls made of screen for a more open-feeling enclosure. This style provides a great way to enjoy the feeling of the outdoors without having to risk getting bit by mosquitoes or overexposure to the sun.

While each of the three styles has its own benefits for the homeowner to consider, all sunrooms allow people to gather and enjoy their surroundings. When you are considering what improvements you’d like to make to your home, sunrooms are surprisingly simple to incorporate into your existing property.  If you already have a deck with some type of roof or porch cover above it; our team can enclose that area and convert your space into an upgraded sunroom that can be used all year – not just 20% of the year. In addition to these styles of sunrooms, we also offer patio covers for those who simply want to provide some shade for their deck or patio rather than fully enclosing the area.
