Service Technician/Install

Must have clean driving record and be able to pass a drug screen, physical, and background check. The position of the Service Installer/Technician is vital to the growth and sustainability of the Company as it provides personal service to our customers by installing and servicing a wide range of products. Essential Functions: · Supports the Company’s mission, vision, and core values · Ensures that all safety procedures are performed in compliance with the Company’s safety policies and all federal, state, and local laws & regulations and attends monthly safety meetings · Establishes service by studying system requirements, ordering and gathering components and parts, completing installation, and performing acceptance testing o Trouble shoots electrical and mechanical problems with openers (garage, gate, and parking) and garage doors (commercial, industrial, or residential) o Repairs, modifies, or replaces materials to suite customer’s needs (both commercial and residential) o Adds electrical options to door openers & high speed doors as required o Replaces springs on commercial and residential doors o Repairs rolling steel doorsfire doors, controlled access systems, gate operators · Utilizes equipment such as Genie lifts, come-a-longs, welders, and torch to complete projects · Operates forklift and scissor lift to perform functions of the required job as needed · Serves existing accounts by analyzing work orders, adhering to daily travel schedule, conducting tests, and resolving problems · Maintains rapport with customers by examining complaints, identifying solutions, suggesting improved methods and techniques, and recommending system improvements · Maintains high standards of quality workmanship in accordance with Company standards · Keeps equipment operating effectively by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs o Works on dock equipment (mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic) o Occasionally works on equipment such as trailers and lifts · Documents service and repair actions by completing paperwork with invoices · Maintains customer confidence by keeping service information confidential · Helps other Service Installers/Technicians with problems and help train new hires as needed · Collects monies from the customer and follows proper cash flow procedures · Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading vendor/supplier publications · Effective use of the time-keeping software application and any other Company mandated software to improve the ability to track or monitor time, labor, and location of workers and/or projects · Maintains day-to-day communication with the Service Manager Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required to Perform the Duties of the Job: · Shows a solid foundation in Company ethics and professional standards · Knowledge of construction industry and products · Ability to read blueprints and technical specifications · Proficient in the use of hand tools · Ability to obtain forklift certification and operate a forklift · Ability to operate scissor-lift · Critical thinking, analytical/mathematical, and mechanical skills · Strong communication and customer service skills · Ability to manage multiple projects with effective time management skills · Strong attention to detail · Technical /computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office and other applications used by the Company (i.e., time-keeping, etc.) · Effective skills of listening, verbal, and written communication · Ability to work under pressure and independently Educational/Experience Requirements Needed to Perform the Duties of the Job: · High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) · Two (2) years of Construction experience or related trade · Garage door experience is preferred · Previous installer experience is preferred · Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Office · Must have a valid driver’s license with good driving record · Must be able to pass (post-offer) background check, drug screen, and physical · Availability to be on-call after hours and on weekends Physical Requirements: · Frequent lifting of 25 to 100 lbs · Near vision and far vision necessary and the ability to adjust focus · Good hearing and continuous verbal (speaking) communication · Frequent reaching requirements of out, overhead, and low (below knees) · Must be able to do occasional sitting and continuous standing · Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, and others · Good dexterity of fingers/hands Working Conditions: · Varying temperature changes · Varying noise levels · Fumes and chemicals Equipment Used Regularly: · Computer and computer software · Telephone · Printer/Copier/Scanner · Fax Machine · Calculator · Hand and Power Tools · Tape measure · Truck Please also checkout our website for an online application @ https://omahadoor.com/careers/ Omaha Door & Window, in all of our locations, provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment and conforms to all the laws, statutes, and regulations concerning EEO and affirmative action.
