The Warehouse Lead – Hollow Metal is capable of performing a variety of welding functions including lay out, fit and fabricate metal components for the Company assembling structural forms by using welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements. This position also has responsibilities in handling incoming and outgoing shipments for the Warehouse. It also oversees the work of the Shop Specialist for Hollow Metal and the Warehouse Specialist Essential Functions: · Supports the Company’s mission, vision, and core values · Ensures that all safety procedures are performed in compliance with the Company’s safety policies and all federal, state, and local laws & regulations and attends monthly safety meetings · Welding o Lays out, positions, and secures product(s) according to specifications o Determines required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques o Heats, forms, and dresses metal parts using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment o Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions o Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes o Removes rough spots from work pieces using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper · Receiving o Unloads trucks, checking in merchandise for appropriate paperwork and/or transfer sheets o Sorts and places materials/products on racks, shelves, or bins according to predetermined procedures o Handles space arrangements for incoming shipments o Checks products for damage or defects o Verifies accuracy of orders by matching them with quantities and types · Shipping o Reads customer orders, work orders, shipping orders or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered or distributed and/or shipped o Follows packaging procedures to ensure safety of shipment o Loads installer’s vehicles with items to be delivered to customers · Responsible for inventory, inventory control, and parts room · Operates forklift and pallet jack to transport shipments · Assists customers and installers when help is needed · Completes product deliveries as necessary · Consults sales personnel about current and upcoming jobs so product quantities are properly ordered and stocked · Works together with inventory on counts and assessments · Plan, schedule, assign, and directly supervises work for Shop Specialist and Warehouse Specialist · Trains new employees as instructed · Ensures warehouse is cleaned and housekeeping guidelines are maintained at all times · Responsible for facilities maintenance duties as needed (i.e., snow removal) · Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required to Perform the Duties of the Job: · Knowledge of construction industry and products · Knowledge of welding techniques · Ability to read blueprints and technical specifications · Proficient in the use of hand tools · Ability to improvise with products and tools as needed · Ability to wear a respiratory as required · Ability to operate a forklift · Critical thinking and analytical/mathematical skills · Strong communication and customer service skills · Ability to manage multiple projects with effective time management skills · Strong attention to detail and organizational skills · Technical skills including software applications used by the Company · Effective skills of listening, verbal, and written communication · Ability to work under pressure and independently · Ability to supervise others Educational/Experience Requirements Needed to Perform the Duties of the Job: · High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) · Associate Degree in Construction or related field is preferred · Two (2) years of Construction experience or related trade · Hollow metal door and frame experience · Previous welder experience · Previous warehouse and/or inventory experience is preferred · Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Office and inventory software · Must be able to obtain forklift certification · Must be able to pass (post-offer) background check, drug screen, and physical · Must possess a valid driver’s license Supervisory Responsibilities: · Shop Specialist – Hollow Metal · Warehouse Specialist – Hollow Metal Physical Requirements: · Frequent lifting of 25 to 100 lbs · Near vision and far vision necessary and the ability to adjust focus · Good hearing and continuous verbal (speaking) communication · Frequent reaching requirements of out, overhead, and low (below knees) · Must be able to do continuous standing and occasional sitting · Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, and others · Good dexterity of fingers/hands Working Conditions: · Varying temperature changes · Varying noise levels · Fumes and chemicals · Dust particles · Slippery surfaces · Moving objects Equipment Used Regularly: · Computer and computer software · Telephone · Printer/Copier/Scanner · Fax Machine · Tape measure · Hand tools and saws · Forklift/pallet jack · Welder · Grinder/Sander · Vehicle Communication: · Warehouse Manager · Warehouse personnel · Commercial Operations Manager · Hollow Metal personnel Omaha Door & Window, in all of our locations, provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment and conforms to all the laws, statutes, and regulations concerning EEO and affirmative action.
