The Shop Specialist – Garage Door is responsible for assisting the Warehouse Lead in receiving, storing, and distributing material, tools, equipment, and products within the warehouse, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all job functions. This position also performs alterations to garage door sections including insulating, cutting down, and modifications. Essential Functions: · Supports the Company’s mission, vision, and core values · Ensures that all safety procedures are performed in compliance with the Company’s safety policies and all federal, state, and local laws & regulations and attends monthly safety meetings · Assists in Receiving o Unloads trucks, checking in merchandise for appropriate paperwork and/or transfer sheets o Sorts and places materials/products on racks, shelves, or bins according to predetermined procedures o Handles space arrangements for incoming shipments o Checks products for damage or defects o Verifies accuracy of orders by matching them with quantities and types · Assist in Shipping o Reads customer orders, work orders, shipping orders or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered or distributed and/or shipped o Follows packaging procedures to ensure safety of shipment o Loads installer’s vehicles with items to be delivered to customers · Operates forklift and pallet jack to transport shipments · Delivers product as necessary · Assists customers and installers when help is needed · Cuts springs for garage doors · Helps with doors and unloads windows; helps other departments as needed · Consults sales personnel about current and upcoming jobs so product quantities are properly ordered and stocked · Works together with inventory on counts and assessments · Ensures warehouse and shop are cleaned and housekeeping guidelines are maintained at all times · Responsible for facilities maintenance duties as needed (i.e., snow removal) · Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required to Perform the Duties of the Job: · Knowledge of construction industry and products · Knowledge of garage door industry · Ability to operate a forklift and power tools · Mathematic and technical skills · Strong communication and customer service skills · Strong attention to detail · Effective skills of listening, verbal, and written communication · Ability to efficiently work under pressure and independently with some guidance · Ability to supervise others Educational/Experience Requirements Needed to Perform the Duties of the Job: · High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) · Two (2) years of Construction experience or related trade · Garage door industry experience · Previous warehouse and/or inventory experience is preferred · Must be able to obtain forklift certification · Must be able to pass (post-offer) background check, drug screen, and physical · Must possess a valid driver’s license Supervisory Responsibilities: · None Supervision Received: · Direct supervision from Warehouse Manager Physical Requirements: · Frequent lifting of 25 to 100 lbs · Near vision and far vision necessary and the ability to adjust focus · Good hearing and continuous verbal (speaking) communication · Frequent reaching requirements of out, overhead, and low (below knees) · Must be able to do continuous standing and occasional sitting · Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, and others · Good dexterity of fingers/hands Working Conditions: · Varying temperature changes · Varying noise levels · Fumes and chemicals · Dust particles · Slippery surfaces · Moving objects Equipment Used Regularly: · Telephone · Printer/Copier/Scanner · Fax Machine · Tape measure · Hand tools/Power tools · Torches/cutters/saws · Forklift/pallet jack · Vehicle Communication: · Warehouse Manager · Warehouse personnel · Service & Sales personnel · Vendors & Suppliers Req# 2158 Omaha Door & Window, in all of our locations, provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment and conforms to all the laws, statutes, and regulations concerning EEO and affirmative action.
